Vesterbro, Slaughter Houses, Carsberg and the New Labour Areas

The old port of Vesterbro is torn down and the city expands along Vesterbro Street. It was decided by the city counsel that all slaughtering was to take place in slaughter houses; as a consequence the stalls at Trommesalen were closed and the Brown meat market was built.

The area is expanding, life is not boring but rough! They don't lack aquavit.

We meet for the city walk at Vesterbros Torv and you will be told about the area; we are visiting court yards. We walk down Istedgade, through the Shooting Range, through an area built for the labourers at Carlsberg Brewery.

The city walk ends after having seen the surroundings at Carlsberg and hearing the history of the brewery.
