Greyfriars
Greyfriars are Mendicant orders of the Franciscans Monks, founded by Francis of Assisi in 1209.
The Greyfriars came to Denmark in the 1200s. The name "greyfriars" associates them with their grey monk habits.
The very first Greyfriars monastery in Denmark was established in Ribe in 1212. However, the largest Greyfriars monastery was established in Odense in 1279.
