Christiania is a "free town" or "free city" in Copenhagen. 

Christiania as a free town was established in 1971 by a group of mostly left wing members, who wanted to be able to live alternatively. Christiania is a society which has estranged itself from the Danish state. Approximately 1.000 people live in the free town of Christiania.

Christiania is an unique example, not only in the history of Denmark, but in the whole world. 

Next to Tivoli, Christiania is the biggest tourist attraction in Copenhagen.
