A foot is a unit of length.
A length of a foot varies from country to country, because a foot is equal to a person’s foot. This measurement method was created by the Sumer people, who lived in the Sothern part of what is today known as Iraq.
Christian V issued in 1683 a decree regarding measurements and weight, and according to this, a standard unit of measurement was produced out of brass. The unit of a foot, among others, was installed, so all tradesmen always could use standard measurements. The standard measurements were usually installed in a central place in a town.
A foot is measured 0,3138535 meters in Denmark.
