Adult education college
The adult education college is a boarding school, where adults learn about the context of life and society.
This type of boarding college was founded in the 1830's by Grundtvig, who was inspired by the British boarding schools. First the schools were only for men and were built on religious and spirituel ideas. The Grundtvigean ideas were written down and were highly revolutionary in the 1830's. Grundtvig believed that education should be focused on the students ideas and learning processes and not the teachers'.
Today, the education is based on humanitarian ideas of correlations between life, society and existance, and has a very social dimension. The education is not based on science and there is no fixed syllabus.
