Dry Battery

The dry battery was created by the Dane Wilhelm Hellesen, who later built a battery factory in Copenhagen.

Wilhelm Hellesen had a wish to increase the viscosity of the liquid in batteries, in order to make them easier to transport. For that purpose he added wheat flour to the battery liquid.

As early as 1887 Wilhelm Hellesen founded the battery factory Hellesens in Copenhagen, that had a distinctive logo showing a tiger. Nearly 100 years later, in 1986, Duracell bought the factory, however the Hellesen battery is still sold under the original name.
