Four-poster Bed

A Four-poster bed, or canopy bed, is the term used to describe a bed with four posters and a baldachin.

The four-poster bed was popular during the Middle Ages, where it radiated high status and wealth. The four-poster bed was beautifully carved out of wood.

During the 1700s, the four-poster bed became draped in huge brocades made of fabric. This made it seem like the bed had "curtains" around and down the sides of the bed.

The four-poster beds were rather pratical as they stayed warm and protected against draught and moist.

The bed went out of style at the end of the 1800s. You do not find many four-poster beds in bedrooms today.
