Frandsen, Torben Vestergaard
Torben Vestergaard Frandsen is one of the people behind the invention of "Lifestraw".
Torben Vestergaard Frandsen is the director of development in the Swiss based company Vestergaard Frandsen. He wanted to find the right filter to clean the drinking water from the Guinea-worm, a worm which can be obtained through drinking water.
Torben Vestergaard Frandsen tried different textile filters but realised that textiles alone could not filter sufficiently enough. However, he later succeeded in finding the right filter combination and today, the Guinea-worm decease is almost exterminated.
In this process, "Lifestraw" was created. It is a straw with a filter that cleans out the polluted part of the drinking water.
