Go to the thingstead
"To go to the thingstead" is an old expression in Denmark. The thingstead was the place where the judicial, executive and legislative branches met.
All free men were eligible to "go to the thingstead" to express their opinions and make their voices heard.
Although the old thingsteads are no longer used in governing, you can still see remains of them many places in Northern Europe.
Typically a thingstead is comprised of twelve stones arranged in a circle around a bigger stone. The central stone was used as the speaker's platform.
