The Copper Age

The Copper Age (c. 4500-2500 BCE) characterises the period between the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age where copper was the used material for weapons and other items.

This period is also called the Chalcolithic Age. The name is inspired by the Greek word for copper "chalkos" and by the lithis stone. It is a time period mostly associated with the Middle East and Southern Europe.

Denmark never had a Copper Age, since the population never used copper as the raw material for weapons and other items. Instead, Denmark implemented the use of the raw material bronze - and so, went from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age.
