Tollund Man, the

The Tollund Man is a bog body dating back to the transitional period between the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age.

The Tollund Man was found in a peat bog near Silkeborg in Jutland in 1950. Today, he is on display at the Silkeborg Museum.

The Tollund Man was executed by hanging and subsequently interred in the bog as a sacrifice, which was a common ritual in the Iron Age. The Tollund Man was about 30 years old at the time of his execution.

The only piece of clothing the body wears is a leather hat, otherwise he is naked. This is common for bog sacrifices from the Iron Age.
